Barry Altshuler is an Executive Vice President of Equity Residential, based in Chicago. In this role he is responsible for the Company’s corporate Investments teams which include the Company’s retail, renovation, disposition, sustainability and market research activities. He also runs Government/Regulatory Affairs for the company.
Barry has over 35 years of experience in the real estate industry and has been directly involved in several billion dollars’ worth of transactions during his career. Mr. Altshuler joined Equity Residential in 1998 as a Vice President of Asset Management. In 2001 he became a Vice President of Acquisitions; in 2007 was named a Senior Vice President and in 2015 an Executive Vice President. Mr. Altshuler serves as President of the California Apartment Association, he is also on the Executive Committee of the Central City Association of Los Angeles and the University of Florida Real Estate Advisory Board, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the National Multi-Housing Council. He holds a BS in Real Estate & Urban Analysis from the University of Florida.
